3 Day Budget Gorilla Trekking Bwindi
This 3 days Uganda Gorilla trekking Bwindi safari, will take you for a Gorilla trekking adventure in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BINP) which is in southwestern Uganda. BINP is situated along the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) border next to the Virunga National Park and on the edge of the Albertine Rift.
Bwindi Facts & History:
Bwindi Forest is composed of 321 square kilometers (124 sq mi) of both montane and lowland forest and it’s only accessible on foot. BINP is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization-designated World Heritage Site and is among the oldest forests lasting over 25,000 years. While here, you will be in position to trek one of the 12 habituated Mountain Gorilla groups and besides viewing these giants of BINP (Gorillas), you will also have a chance to see other primates for example the red-tailed monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons, black and white colobus monkeys among others.
Bwindi Forest Wildlife Composition:
The Bwindi forest is a habitat to 120 mammals, 348 species of birds like horn-bills and Turacos, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos, 163 tree species, 104 fern species, 1000 flowering plants and many other endangered species. The Gorilla trekking activity takes between 2 to 8 hours, which is dream to primate lovers as it involves hiking, climbing up and about the rolling hills of Bwindi, and going through the lush vegetation under the guidance of Park Rangers.
DAY1. To Bwindi impenetrable national park.
Depart from Entebbe early morning and proceed south-west. Have a stopover at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in 2 hemispheres at the same time to take some photos. The drive takes you through Savannah grasslands seeing banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle with their incredible long curving horns. Then you ascend into the Kigezi highlands, known as the “Switzerland of Africa“, with terraced farming and mountain scenery to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Overnight at your lodge.
Day 2. Uganda Gorilla trekking Bwindi.
A morning cup of coffee or tea is recommended before your Uganda gorilla trekking experience. You will then head to the briefing point at the park headquarters and from here you will be briefed about the dos and don’ts while in the jungle forest with the gentle Giants. You will be provided with walking sticks and you are also advised to have your lunch parked with enough drinking water. Staring into the pensive brown eyes of these gentle giants, who share 95% of their genes with humans, is as humbling as it is thrilling. After tracking you will travel back to your lodge, relax have dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 3 Morning breakfast and return to Entebbe or Hotel.
