The 3 Days Murchison Falls safari takes you to Uganda’s largest and oldest National Park which is Murchison Falls National park formerly known as Kabalega National park that sits on the shore of Lake Albert, in northwest Uganda shared by two Districts of Masindi and Nwoya. It covers an area of 3,840Sq km and known for its magnificent water Falls, where the Victoria Nile River surges through a narrow gap that’s 8 meters wide over a massive drop and plunges with a thunderous roar into the “Devil’s Cauldron”, creating a trademark rainbow  . Murchison Falls National Park was gazetted in 1926 as a game reserve and the park wildlife includes 76 species of mammals that is elephants, lions, antelopes, crocodiles, hippos. This beautiful Murchison falls has over 451 bird species including the rare Shoebill stock that are commonly sighted at the Lake Albert Delta and there are chimpanzees in the Kaniyo Pabidi mahogany forest known as Budongo forest.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1.  Ziwa Rhino sanctuary and top of the falls.

After breakfast head to  Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The sanctuary houses Uganda’s Rhino reintroduction project. There are 13  white rhinos and tracking is done on foot and takes about 1 and half hours.  Thereafter proceed to the top of Murchison falls.

Day 2. Game drive and boat cruise

Early morning head for a game drive on the northern bank of the River Nile. Your guide will help you spot elephant, lion, cape buffalo, Roth child’s giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, bohor reed buck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. After lunch, go for a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. Here you will see the River Nile said to be the 2nd longest river in the world crush through a narrow gorge and forming the magnificent Murchison fall. While on the cruise you will see hippos, crocodiles elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob among others. This is also the zone of many birds, species like goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. Overnight at your lodge.

Day 3. Top of the falls in the morning and thereafter depart for Kampala
